Embrace Social Development, Skill Building, and Academic Support with After School Clubs

Teamwork, independence, creativity, and self-confidence are all elements that are encouraged and nurtured at our two after school clubs in Oak Hill and Tenacres via a diverse range of activities. We offer an enriching, safe, comfortable, and engaging environment for children to come and have fun, learn, and relax after a day at school and where parents have peace of mind knowing their children are being looked after. The children’s happiness and well-being are our main priority.

After-school clubs are ideal for working parents and carers who may work different hours to those of a school day and who require a safe place for their children to go; until they can be picked up. Our after-school clubs are a great place for children to have fun, where we offer a range of stimulating learning and activities; as well as a safe place to just relax and get their homework completed. Within this post, we explore the social, skill, and academic benefits of after-school clubs and learn a bit more about our two exceptional locations.

Social Development

Interaction with children in the same year group but also other ages within the school facilitates and develops children’s communication, team building, and mediation abilities. A small, more intimate environment where different ages mix, interact, and play together in group activities and collaborative projects promotes teamwork and encourages children to share ideas, negotiate, and work towards the same goal. Just physically sitting next to a different-aged child and being in their vicinity is a new experience for some children and can add value to their social developmental skills and abilities.

After-school clubs offer a diverse and inclusive space where children can form new friendships; friendships they may not have considered; build trust and develop empathy for all ages by interacting with individuals from different backgrounds and experiences; helping broaden perspectives and appreciate diversity. Interaction not only comes with other children but also with the staff at our after-school clubs as well. Building meaningful connections with adults can help build self-esteem and confidence, which can lay the foundations for healthy relationships and being at ease socially.

Skill Building

Children can explore their existing interests and talents; as well as new ones within our after-school clubs. Our clubs are a great environment to develop a wide range of skills including sports, art, craft, and music and of course to continue their academic curriculum and complete any potential homework that has been set. Clubs provide a supportive and social setting where children can build friendships and enhance their social skills.

At our two sites; children have access to a diverse array of toys and resources and our program has been carefully curated around the EYFS for reception children; parents’ input and suggestions, children’s interests, school themes, and events. We work very closely with the schools to understand what they are working on and projects. All activities are tailored to accommodate the varying ages and interests of all attending children.

Academic Support

Offering a structured environment where the children can extend their academic learning is critical in our afterschool offering and all our children have access to resources and materials to enhance and complement their academic curriculum. Our clubs promote a positive attitude towards learning by offering a relaxed and supportive setting where children can continue their work, explore new interests, and celebrate academic achievements.

The school day can sometimes feel long for our little people; so we ensure a safe and relaxed environment where all children know they can play, learn, and develop. At Sneakers Childcare we have a dedicated, kind, strong and helpful team of qualified and experienced staff who work closely together and with the children which is reflected in the club’s positive atmosphere.

Sneakers Kids Klubs

Our two sites are Sneakers Kids Klub at Oak Hill which is an Ofsted Registered After School Club based at Oakhill First School and Sneakers Kids Klub at Tenacres is an Ofsted Registered After School Club based at Tenacres First School. Safeguarding is important to us and we take it very seriously and have a designated Safeguarding Lead at each site. All staff are DBS checked and receive regular training to ensure that we are at the forefront of learning and child protection issues.
