Who we are

Our Ethos

We understand that it is every parent’s priority to find a nursery, which offers a caring and sensitive environment, instilling trust, self-esteem and confidence within the child. After all, the nursery will become your child’s ‘home away from home’.

Basing our belief that children should be treated as individuals – we believe children should experience educationally stimulating and challenging activities in an environment where they can explore, imagine and create. We encourage children to become independent and confident through positive, motivating experiences and work in close partnership with parents and carers to ensure that each child’s journey with us prepares them with essential life skills.

Enabling Environments

We believe that children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and to do this, they need lots of open ended resources, tools and materials to work within both indoor and outdoor environments. Enabling environments encourage children to play because they feel relaxed, comfortable and ‘at home’ in them. When children feel emotionally safe and secure, they are able to explore and find out about the place they are in and the things they can see, touch, man oeuvre or manipulate.

Partnership with Parents

To create an inspiring, stimulating, happy and educational environment between the children and our staff, we encourage parents to become as involved as possible in nursery life and develop close partnership with us.

We understand that leaving your child for the first time in the nursery is a big event and can be stressful and upsetting for you and your child. We welcome parents to participate in ‘settling-in’ sessions during which a gradual adjustment to the new environment for your child is supported by your presence offering a greater piece of mind. This experience is valuation and will enable us to begin to build important relationships with you.

We regularly hold Parents’ evenings where you have an opportunity to discuss your child’s development and progress at the nursery with his/her key worker. This also gives you opportunity to ask us questions and provide feedback on your experiences. A learning Journal will be provided to you to take home and share with the rest of your family and maybe add your own photos and comments as necessary.

Our key workers carry out daily handovers for your child which provide an insight into your child’s day, detailing eating, sleeping, playing activities, physical, emotional and social progress. These handovers also provide an opportunity for you to update us on any events or wow moments at home.

We carry out our self-assessment of our nursery every year and a large part of this process is to obtain feedback from parents. We operate an open door policy and are always on hand to discuss any concerns, however small as they may seem. We send out yearly feedback forms which provide us with your views on everything from the nursery meals, staff performance, as well as your children’s experiences. This information is then used by us to assess whether we are meeting our current objectives and allow us to set new ones for the year ahead.
